Product Description
Adapter Plate Kit - 1994-2002 Cummins to Ford 460 automatic transmission - Includes the required torque converter adapter set.
Engine: 1994-2002 Cummins
Transmission: Ford 460 or 351-400 ""M"" C-6, or E4OD
The kit includes instructions for the adapter kit only, the engine to transmission adapter and the required torque converter adapter set.
Supporting parts you need- or may already have- that are not included in this kit are:
- 1994-2006 Dodge Cummins flex plate
- 94-02 Cummins starter (not included).
- starter bolts
Installation and use information:
- See the Overview for your truck for other important parts that may apply!
- Minimal and insignificant grinding of the Cummins oil pan rail is required, but this does not ruin the Cummins engine block core value.
- Significant grinding of the transmission bellhousing is required for starter clearance, enough to make a small hole through the case. This does not adversely effect the strength of the transmission.
- Additional grinding for flexplate clearance is required for the ""M"" application- enough that we do not recommend using these transmissions, but some customers have done it anyway.
- Grinding of the torque converter studs is usually required after the torque converter adapter is installed. The converter adapter may not work with custom built torque converters. If you have a custom built torque converter, check with the converter manufacturer to see if the converter is a stock dimensioned part- if it is not built to stock dimensions it will not work.
