Frequently asked questions:
Q:
If I Install this kit on my vehicle, will it “throw a code” or “CEL” (Check engine light)?
A: It should not cause a check engine light on 2003-04. It may cause a check engine light on 2005-07 however there are a few solutions. On the 2005 you can leave a working EGR valve in place and that should fix the problem. The 2006-07 you may need to add a SCT tuner with one of our custom tunes. Please call us for details at 724-323-4998
Q: I have quite a bit of experience working on trucks, and I am planning to install this kit myself. How long will the install take and can you email me the instructions before I purchase the kit?
A: A typical Sinister EGR delete install takes about 6-8 hours.
The instructions can be downloaded here. Pages 1-4, Pages 5-8
Q: I have a stock 2004 6.0 and I am currently not experiencing any problems with the EGR that I am aware of and I have never checked to see if my EGR valve is clogged. Is there any real benefit to getting the Sinister EGR Delete now?
A: If you are not having any problems with your EGR now you do not need to replace it. However, if you want to prevent the chance of EGR going out and want to lower coolant and oil temps, I would recommend using our Sinister EGR Delete Kit. Also, there will be a slight gain in fuel mileage and horsepower.
Q: My 2006 Super Duty has began to blow white smoke. I have recently had the head gaskets replaced could the EGR be going out on my truck? Will this fix the problem, and does the kit include everything I need to install it?
A: Yes, It sounds like you have a bad EGR Cooler. The kit includes everything you need to do the install.
Q: Do I need to remove the intake manifold to install this kit?
A: No, you will not need to remove the intake manifold. This means the oil filter, fuel filter, and all the wires/hoses can be left in place saving hours of install time. Also, the gaskets are reusable and do not need to be replaced.
Q: What is the large metal pipe for?
A:
The large pipe is the up-pipe, it supplies the exhaust to power the turbo. They tend to break over time and restrict the exhaust when using a block off plate.
